Partner With God

Sometimes we form partnerships with others to help us fulfill the purpose and plan that God has given us. While it is rewarding to work alongside others towards a specific vision, what will likely happen is someone’s actions will disappoint you, especially if they have not fully embraced the vision as you have. Considering that there is no perfect human walking the earth, we are bound to let each other down from time to time.

For example, God gave Moses a vision of leading His people out of captivity and to the Promised Land. Moses did not believe he was capable of handling this job on his own so he begged God for someone to be his mouthpiece. God gave him his brother Aaron to partner with him and speak for him. This may seem like a sweet deal, but the moment Moses’ back was turned, Aaron failed to uphold the vision. Moses was up the mountain receiving the commandments of the Lord and Aaron gave in to the whining of a restless people and helped them form false gods and idols to worship (Exodus 32:1-3). This was clearly not part of the vision God gave Moses! When Moses found out what happened, he had to rebuke the people and undo the mess.

While the Lord will bring others into our lives to help us reach our destiny, we must be careful not to become dependent on those individuals and what they represent. We can work on others but we must always look to God as our source. This could be one reason why we are to “write the vision and make it plain” (Habakkuk 2:2) – not only for the people to understand but so we have the documented word of God clearly showing us that we are going somewhere whether Suzy, Johnny and Bobby come with us or not.

People may make promises and neglect to follow through on them. Circumstances change and resources shift. However, God does not change and He keeps His Word. Hold fast to the vision He has given you. Remember always that His plans for you are good, to bring you to an expected end, no matter what unexpected obstacles arise (Jeremiah 29:11).

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (New King James Version)

9 Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him
who is alone when he falls,
For
he has no one to help him up.

Romans 8:28 (Amplified Bible)

28We are assured and know that (God being a partner in their labor) all things work together and are (fitting into a plan) for good to and for those who love God and are called according to (His) design and purpose.
